You will take a key role in a BI/DWH modernization initiative where legacy Microsoft-based data flows are being understood, challenged, and gradually moved to a modern cloud data platform. This is a role for you who can contribute early, not only when implementation is already defined. You will help analyze a complex data warehouse landscape, identify dependencies across ETL flows and data models, and shape how legacy solutions can be modernized in a structured and practical way.

This is more than a pure development role. You are expected to combine strong hands-on engineering skills with the ability to understand existing BI and DWH environments in depth and turn that understanding into sound technical decisions. You will work closely with architects, BI developers, business experts, and other data engineers, while also supporting more junior colleagues. • You will take a leading role in the early phases of the modernization work and help drive discovery, analysis, and the first implementation steps.
• You will analyze legacy SQL Server and SSIS-based data warehouse flows, including ETL processes, stored procedures, views, tables, and technical dependencies.
• You will help define how existing data flows and models can be modernized toward a cloud-based data platform.
• You will work hands-on with implementation while also contributing to technical direction and solution design.
• You will collaborate closely with architects, BI developers, business experts, and other data engineers to align business needs with technical design.
• You will document technical solutions, data flows, mappings, and design decisions in a clear and structured way.
• You will contribute with best practices around structured development flows, CI/CD, and version control.
• You will support and guide more junior data engineers in day-to-day work and technical decisions.

• Senior-level experience as a Data Engineer
• Very strong SQL skills, especially in SQL Server and T-SQL
• Documented experience with SSIS and traditional Microsoft DWH/BI environments
• Experience analyzing ETL flows, stored procedures, views, tables, and dependencies
• Experience of modernization or migration from a legacy DWH to a cloud-based data platform
• Experience with at least one of the following: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or Snowflake
• Good understanding of Kimball, Data Vault, star schema, and data marts
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and structured development flows
• Experience documenting technical solutions, data flows, mappings, and design decisions
• Ability to work closely with architects, BI developers, business experts, and other data engineers
• Ability to contribute both in discovery and analysis as well as hands-on implementation
• Experience leading more junior Data Engineers
• Fluent Swedish and good English
• Ability to pass a background check

• Experience with dbt
• Experience with SSAS, SSRS, or Power BI
• Experience with Purview, Unity Catalog, or DataHub
• Experience from domains such as retail, supply chain, finance, or HR
